Why your charity should want to work with a B Corps company - Donna Okell

Donna Okell - Founder and B Leader

Donna is the Founder and Director of UK for Good, and a B Leader, which means she can support businesses on their B Corp journey.
Following 35 years spent running family businesses, working as a Private Wealth Manager for Coutts & Co., and running a charity she had a lightbulb moment.

It was clear that the needs and expectations of people and the planet were rapidly changing, yet businesses weren’t adapting.

The old model of maximising shareholder wealth at any cost is no longer fit for purpose. To succeed in business now and in the future leaders must adapt and focus on purpose, people, planet, and prosperity.

Having run a family business and supported SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) clients in her work at Coutts, Donna knew that many businesses wanted to make a profit AND a positive difference in the world.

Having realised that there was very little support for SMEs, which account for 99.9% of the 5.6 million or so of businesses in the UK, Donna decided to do something about it.

She discovered B Corps, a new type of business meeting high levels of social and environmental performance.

In 2021 she set up UK for Good to inspire, inform, and enable SME businesses to grow successfully, AND sustainably, and to support businesses on their B Corp journey.

Whether a business has no idea where to start its better business journey or is ready to pursue B Corp Certification, Donna and her team have written a range of cost and time-effective programmes to help by businesses act as a force for good.

As business leaders, we have a huge responsibility and opportunity to shape a better world for our children and future generations.
